Axesrus 56.4mm Spaced Tremolo - Zinc Block
We spotted these on our travels a few years ago. What really caught our eye was those all important measurements, with the wide 56.4mm (2 7/32") string and screw spacing and full sized block.
The zinc block is a slight departure from the standard steel version found on most 56.4mm spaced tremolos and whilst not to everyone’s taste, zinc shouldn’t be discounted simply as the “budget” option.
Granted, Zinc is a cheaper material to produce, so that’s reflected in the price, but from a tonal perspective, zinc has a much softer character to its sound. Sustain is probably the first thing people notice with the zinc vs. steel comparison, with zinc being slightly less pronounced, and the high end isn’t as sharp. This has the added advantage of adding a little more warmth to the sound.
It’s often said that Steel blocks are perfect for the vintage sound, and Zinc lends itself to a more modern style, where a crisp top end isn’t always appreciated.
Supplied with trem arm, springs, screws, claw and alan key.
Block Material - Zinc
String Spacing - 56.4mm

The steel block is standard on most 56.4mm spaced tremolos and whilst steel is considered an upgrade over zinc, its worth bearing in mind that tone is a very personal thing and whilst the majority prefer steel, there’s always a place for different opinions on guitars.
Firstly, steel is a more expensive material, so that’s reflected in the price, but from a tonal perspective, steel has a much more aggressive character to its sound. Sustain is probably the first thing people talk about when comparing Steel and Zinc, with Steel being much more pronounced, and the high end very crisp and bright. Another point worth noting is that steel seems to offer a volume boost.
Whilst Zinc is more suited to modern sound, Steel really captures that vintage sound with ease – that crisp, biting Strat quack from the 50s and 60s absolutely shines through in the mix.
Supplied with trem arm, springs, screws, claw and alan key.

Axesrus 54mm Spaced Tremolo - Zinc Block
Our take on the narrower Stratocaster trem, mounting with standard 54mm (2 1/8") screw spacing and carrying the usual 54mm (2 1/8") string spacing.
The narrower spacing gives a much more stable string lie across the neck, limiting the possibilities of the E strings slipping off the frets, a great little touch for anyone who likes their hammer ons and pull offs.

Wilkinson WVC Tremolo - Steel Block
Wilkinsons take on the vintage style Stratocaster trem, mounting with the classic 56.4mm (2 7/32") screw spacing, but with narrower string spacing at 54mm (2 1/8”).
The narrower spacing gives a much more stable string lie across the neck, limiting the possibilities of the E strings slipping off the frets, a great little touch for anyone who likes their hammer ons and pull offs.
The steel block is also sports staggered string holes to make corrections to the intonation a relatively simple job, without putting too much stress on the saddles, and as with all steel blocks, it helps magnify the overall sustain, brightness and top end, resulting in a more expansive tone.
Another nice feature on the Wilkinson trems is the push in whammy arm. A simply solution to an age old problem! Wilkinson have installed a “clamping” bush inside the block, secured by a small bolt on the rear of the block.
All in all, these really are a great tremolo, flawless construction, innovative design and very competitively priced.
Supplied with trem arm, springs, screws, claw and alan key.

Wilkinson WV6 Tremolo - Steel Block
Wilkinsons take on the vintage style Stratocaster trem, mounting with another unique design tweak, the screw spacing is a “universal fit” where elongated holes mean the trem will fit on a body drilled anywhere from 54mm (2 1/8”) right up to 56.4mm (2 7/32"). And as usual, the WV6 sports the narrower string spacing at 54mm (2 1/8”) found on most Wilkinson trems.
