Axesrus "Knee Jerk" Humbuckers

The Knee Jerk humbucker represents an affordable solution for anyone looking for that classic PAF sound, but who just can’t justify the expensive historical recreations.

Harking back to a simpler time, these really are a no nonsense pickups. Both neck and bridge up at the same resistance up in that sweet spot between 7k and 8k, they’ll take whatever you can throw at them, from pop through to hard rock and every thing in between.

They’re built around a slightly weakened Alnico 2 bar magnet, lending the setup a sweet, almost spongy tone, with a pronounced top end. They’re ideally suited to rhythm work, but with plenty of bite in the top end. Just enough so they hold their own when needed for riffs or solos.

There’s no coil tap option with these pickups, so we’ve been able to use the classic braided metal wire seen on so many iconic pickups through the years.

All in all, these pickups are a great big nod to that cherished 50s humbucker tone.

Axesrus "Classic 50s" Humbuckers

Heres a set of pickups were very proud of - combining modern build techniques with vintage ideas to create a brilliant sounding humbucker. The bridge is short, sharp and barks real character, where the neck is big, bright and brassy.

Built using the often overlooked Alnico III magnets, the magnetic field is slightly weaker, but dont read this as a negative! These delicate magnets give better sustain, better highs and more control over the low end, very similar to true 50s PAF humbuckers.

Great for anyone who likes Classic Rock, Hot Blues and Country - just roll back the gain to cool them off, giving a beautiful, flowing clean sound, and throw it back up to get sharp, accurate distortion without that horrible muddy feel!

Axesrus "Hot Rock" Humbuckers

Our newest line of Humbuckers, built in a Late 50s style, looking for that strong lead sound.

Built using alnico 5 magnets, they have a much punchier, tighter feel then some of the weaker magnets, especially so at the top and bottom of their range. One point of note is the scooped middle, which, whilst not to everyones’ taste, really does lend itself to being played over the top of a Rhythm guitar track.

As with most of our new pickups, we're trying to avoid the "overwound" styles that are abundant nowadays. The set carries a real presence in its sound, making it a great, specialised set for solo and riff work.

Again, great for anyone who likes their Classic Rock, Blues, Pop- anything that has a strong, driving lead guitar line.

Axesrus "Bourbon City" Humbuckers

With these pickups we've been aiming to hit that notch between clean and dirty, and the Burbon City set delivers brilliantly on both fronts.

Crystal clear tones on clean, with every note carrying a halo of warmth that really lends itself to a single note style, but with a little overdrive, they've got a kick like the name suggests. With the warmth becoming heat, the clear tones becoming sharp - exactly how a PAF humbucker should sound.

Built to 50s specs, avoiding the pit falls of the "overwound" styles that are abundant nowadays, balancing bright tops and crisp mids with a slightly subdued bass and glowing sustain thanks to the Alnico II magnets. The set carrys a real presence in its sound, making it a capable combo for both rythmn and solo work.

Again, great for anyone who likes their Classic Rock, Hot Texas Blues - anything that really needs a hard working set of Humbuckers for both clean and overdriven work.

Axesrus "Split Pole" Humbuckers

We all know the look, we all know the sound, and we all know the problem... The split pole humbucker was once an option only open to the most dedicated telecaster players.

Now its time to level the playing field! We’ve mounted the split pole system into a standard humbucker body and maintaining the beefy character that made the original so popular.

Forgetting the split poles heritage in 70s telecasters for a moment, you’re basically looking at a matched set of mildly overwound PAFs with the stronger Alnico V magnets that lend them self to a fatter sound without being overly “sparkly” at the top end.

Obviously, ideal as a neck humbucker in Strats and Teles when you want a little bit more body for blues and rock without getting too hot. Its worth remembering the bridge pickup too, sporting the same vital statistics as the neck, but thanks to limited string movement, its a lot sharper, with a snappier overall sound perfectly suited to short, barking chords.

Axesrus "Hot Iron" Humbuckers

The perfect balance between power and performance. Offering an incredibly hot bridge with a real depth and presence that define this set, paired with a more traditional neck pickup in the overwound style for any sweeping, mellower work you have on the cards.

Built using the ever popular Alnico V magnets, they offer a fatter sound, with drum tight bass response and crisp highs. These characteristics appeal to polar opposites musically, clean they'll make light work of Jazz, slow Blues and Country, but when driven further, they'll handle Heavy Metal, Punk and Rock without breaking a sweat.

Made in the same vein as out Hot Irons, the pickups offer up a great mix between out and out gunt from a V12 of a Bridge(15.5k (+/-10%))for chugging rythmn work, and a more traditional neck pickup in the overwound style (8k (+/-10%)) for any sweeping, mellower work you have on the cards.

All wrapped up in custom covers fashioned on the Radiator grill of an old Jeep.

Wilkinson, as always, aim to please with the pickups, and these are no exception. These are their top of the line Humbuckers. You can really see why their happy to stamp their name on the cover.

The Bridge (8.3k (+/-10%)) is a real dream to play with.Subtle, smooth, well rounded with plenty of mids and Neck (7k (+/-10%)) oozes that traditional PAF sound. Perfect for Rock, pop, country and jazz - an incrediblly well rounded set of pickups.

G & B "G116" Humbuckers

G and B take on the traditional PAF humbucker, with the Tele Thinline firmly in mind.

With a Bright, Twangy Bridge(14K +/- 10%)and a Neck ( 8k (+/-10%)) offering up more bass and body then normal tele pickups, without bringing too much heat to the mix, making them a hard working humbucker that can do the jobs most humbuckers shy away from.

As you'd expect, these pickups really are a match made in heaven when fitted into an Ash or Alder body, but they really do come alive in a hallow or chambered body, where the extra resonance rings out like a bell in the mix.
