Vintage Fender Telecaster Bridge

Fenders ever popular re-issue of the original Telecaster Bridge, Sporting the classic 3 brass barrel saddles with “slot head” height adjustment screws.

Originally running from 1950, on the very earliest Esquires and Broadcasters, up to late 1954, when it was superseded by a similar steel saddle version.

This really is the industry standard for vintage Telecasters

Vintage Fender Telecaster Bridge

Fenders gold version of the Original Telecaster Bridge, obviously straying away from historical correctness due to the colour, we see Steel saddles used instead of brass.

More then likely an aesthetic choice over a historical point, the smooth steel saddles actually bring this bridge more in line with a 1954 – 1958, and will give the guitar a slightly sharper edge to its tone.

None the less, just like its Chrome counterpart, this is the industry standard for vintage Telecasters

Available in Gold.

Vintage Fender Telecaster Bridge w/ 6 Saddles

In an attempt to address the intonation and action issues that sometimes appeared on Telecasters due to the limitations of the 3 saddle bridge, in 1972 Fender released the 6 saddle version on the re-vamped Telecaster Custom.

The individual saddles meant that each string could be altered independently of its neighbours, leading to a superior setup in comparison to older models.

Oddly, the design never really caught on, and on standard models, it was common to see the old style 3 saddle bridge right up to 1983.

This was actually the last “true” vintage style bridge Fender released as a new concept. Everything that followed was in a more modern ilk.

Wilkinson Compensated Saddle Telecaster Bridge

A relatively modern solution to an age old problem, Wilkinson have designed a set of compensated saddles specifically for their vintage spec Telecaster Bridge, the offset points of string contact make intonation corrections a little easier.

That aside, the bridge itself is a very high quality part that offers both “string through body” and “string through top” options, making it a slightly more universal part, ideal for the upgrade market or as a direct replacement for a late 1958-1960 Fender Telecaster, which only supported the string through top stringing option more commonly seen on Import guitars nowadays.

Axesrus Vintage Telecaster Bridge

Our own take on the “classic” vintage Telecaster Bridge, a hybrid between the tonality of the very earliest Bridges seen in the 1950s, but with the more reliable stringing of the 1968 – 1983 version thanks to the grooved saddles.

The premise is pretty straight forward; the grooves offer a better foundation for the strings, making it easier to match a necks radius without string slipping, and the brass saddles catch that classic Tele tone, really giving you the best of both worlds.

This bridge also offers the preferred “String through body” and “String through top” Stringing options, making it an idea upgrade part.

This is out take on a slightly truer version of the 1968-1983 Telecaster bridge.

Axesrus Vintage Telecaster Bridge w/ Six Saddles

Our take on the short lived Vintage 6 Saddle Bridge, offering unrivalled action and intonation alterations compared to the 3 saddle version.

As with the Fender model, this is based around a bridge initially seen on the Telecaster Custom in 1972, but we’ve tried to aim this bridge at a wider audience looking to get more precision from their guitar, notably providing “String through body” and “String through top” stringing options.

Telecaster Vintage Ferrules

These are the standard Telecaster Ferrules, but it’s worth bearing in mind that the way they’ve been used over the years has slightly changed.

From 1950 through 1966, the ferrules were countersunk into the body, sitting flush in the guitar.

From 1966 until the Fender Management buyout in 1984, the Ferrules were no longer counter sunk, and actually sat proud.

Since 1984, the ferrules have been countersunk again.

It doesn’t alter the way the Ferrules work, but its worth taking on board for historical builds or repairs.

It’s also worth considering that although these are the most common form of ferrule in use on Telecasters, there are exceptions.

Telecaster Bullet Ferrules

These Ferrules represent one of the exceptions mentioned above, initially run alongside the debut of Fenders bullet strings and slightly more common on hard tail Stratocasters, occasionally, the slightly narrower ferrule appears on Telecasters.

No real advantage or disadvantage when in use with regular strings, however, its argued that they provide a more stable platform for Fenders namesake strings.

Telecaster Smooth Ferrules

A smooth barrel ferrule which shouldn’t require any counter sinking to achieve a flush finish due to the shorter nature and lack of collar. Functionally, they’re identical to most other ferrules.
